Adding a little college rivalry to blood drives and donations
To raise awareness for the AON Nurses Services Organization’s (NSO) new marketplace–where nurses could purchase discounted products, from laptop computers to scrubs–Netplus and AON launched a nationwide contest. Peers were invited to nominate fellow nurses who went above and beyond the call of duty and were worthy of being dubbed the NSO Outstanding Nurse. A website, Twitter account, Facebook page and banner ads drove traffic and entries. Each month we selected a regional winner who became a finalist for the grand prize. This kept nurses and nominees coming back on a regular basis to see new entries and the latest winners. As avid social media users, nurses were naturals in spreading news of the contest virally via Facebook. Entries went through the roof, and over 700,000 NSO customers became familiar with and purchased products available through the NSO Marketplace.
This award winning campaign also served to increase the size of the NSO community while generating heart-felt content from real nurses to share with fans. The following is an excerpt from Jay, our winner’s nomination of an important nurse in his life: “My father has worked to ensure that wounded soldiers are properly transported to the appropriate facilities both abroad and in the U.S. to obtain adequate medical treatment; providing medical care while flying in a C-130. At this time, my father is stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan.”
