The Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center came to us on the forefront of the social media boom with some interesting challenges: with The National Symphony Orchestra, ballet, theater, and daily free concerts, just to name a few, how does this potpourri of culture find its social media voice and who will say what, to whom, how often, and when?

After preliminary conference calls and a thorough examination of materials from the upcoming season, two members of the Netplus social media team spent a day in DC with the director and his staff. These staffers were fairly well-versed in basic social media, so in this case, Netplus played a purely consultative role; the deliverable being a presentation and a detailed document for staff to follow.

After setting measurable objectives, we analyzed multiple target demographics and chose the most effective tools. We set up multiple accounts and voices with guidelines for each. We helped shape the corporate voice, specific groups under the Center’s umbrella, and tapped into name performers and guest bloggers. Detailed content calendars helped guide the staff initially until it became second nature to them.

All in all, a consultation that allowed Kennedy Center to take collaborative objectives, and institute a multi-level, successful social media program.
